Where will the assessment take place?

Appointments can take place in a hired room at a Bournemouth library or at your home in Bournemouth. The venue is arranged with you before the appointment. Room hire and travel are included in the £400 fee. Read the parent checklist for preparing for a dyslexia assessment.

What does the £400 include?

  • An introductory call to discuss your concerns.

  • A face-to-face assessment lasting approximately three hours.

  • A detailed, personalised written report.

  • An explanation of the findings and recommendations based on the individual’s profile.

  • A feedback phone call or Zoom meeting.

  • Room hire and travel for Bournemouth appointments.

The report is normally provided within seven working days of the assessment. Read the dyslexia assessment cost guide.

When might an assessment help?

You may be looking for an explanation for persistent difficulties with reading, spelling or written work. An assessment considers the individual’s strengths and difficulties to help you understand their learning needs. You do not need to be certain that dyslexia is the explanation before getting in touch.

What skills does a dyslexia assessment explore?

The assessment explores reading accuracy, fluency and comprehension, spelling and writing, alongside language, reasoning and skills involved in processing speech sounds, remembering information and working at speed. Findings are considered together with developmental and educational history to understand the student’s individual profile.

How do I arrange an appointment?

Start with a free 15-minute introductory call. We can discuss the student’s age, your concerns, the appointment location and how the assessment works. There is no obligation to book an assessment.
