Online dyslexia screening
What is an online dyslexia screener?
The Tests of Dyslexia – Screener (TOD-S) is a set of short activities used to help identify possible risk of dyslexia. Your appointment is led personally by Mark Trewby through a live video session, rather than completed as a self-guided online quiz.
The session usually takes 20–30 minutes. Mark considers your background information alongside the screening results and provides a written summary with guidance on what to do next.
What does the £50 fee include?
-
A short background questionnaire before the appointment.
-
A live, individual online screening session with Mark.
-
TOD-S screening results, including the Dyslexia Risk Index.
-
A written screening summary within 24 hours.
-
Practical guidance on possible next steps.
What does screening look at?
The screening activities explore word meanings, recognition of letters and correctly spelled words, and reading fluency. They give a brief picture of selected skills rather than the detailed learning profile explored in a full diagnostic assessment.
Can this screening test diagnose dyslexia?
No. Screening estimates possible risk; it cannot confirm or rule out dyslexia. If difficulties persist, or you need a fuller explanation of strengths and needs, discuss whether a diagnostic assessment would be helpful.
The screening summary is not a full diagnostic report. If you need evidence for a particular school, college or other purpose, check the requirements before booking.
Who might find screening helpful?
Online screening is available for ages 8–21. It may be useful when you have concerns about reading or spelling and would like an initial professional view before deciding what to do next. Tell Mark the young person’s age, the difficulties you have noticed and any existing support so suitability can be checked before booking.
What if we later choose a full assessment?
The £50 screening service can be booked on its own. You do not have to book a full diagnostic assessment afterwards, and you do not have to buy screening before enquiring about a full assessment.
If you proceed to Mark’s £400 full diagnostic assessment within 30 days, the £50 screening fee is credited towards it. You pay a further £350 for the assessment, making £400 in total across the two services.
Full diagnostic assessments are available online across the UK for ages 11–21, or face-to-face in Bournemouth for ages 8–21. For children aged 8–10, online screening can be discussed as an initial step; Mark’s full diagnostic assessment for this age group is face-to-face in Bournemouth.
