Last updated: 20 October 2026

These Terms and Conditions apply to online and face-to-face diagnostic dyslexia assessment services provided by Mark Trewby, trading as Dyslexia Tests Online (https://www.dyslexia-tests.online).

By booking an assessment or paying a booking deposit, the person making the booking confirms that they have read, understood, and agreed to these Terms and Conditions.

1. Assessment Fee, Payment, and Scope

Assessment Fee

The total fee for an online or Bournemouth face-to-face diagnostic dyslexia assessment is £400. Online assessments are available across the UK for ages 11–21. Bournemouth face-to-face assessments are available for ages 8–21.

For Bournemouth face-to-face appointments, the £400 fee includes room hire and travel. The appointment takes place in a hired room at a Bournemouth library or at the client’s home, with arrangements agreed in advance.

The fee covers the complete assessment process, including:

  • Pre-assessment background information and questionnaire reviews.

  • The live online or face-to-face assessment session.

  • Scoring, qualitative profile synthesis, and psychometric analysis.

  • Preparation and electronic delivery of a detailed written diagnostic report.

  • A dedicated 15-minute remote feedback consultation following receipt of the final report to explain diagnostic findings and recommendations.

Payment Structure

The £400 fee is payable in two instalments:

  1. £50 Booking Deposit: Payable upon confirmation of assessment suitability to reserve your slot.

  2. £350 Remaining Balance: Payable following completion of the assessment session, prior to the electronic release of the final report and 15-minute feedback consultation.

The final assessment report will not be released under any circumstances until the £350 balance has been received in full.

Scope of Service & Exclusions

  • Core Focus: The assessment strictly evaluates whether an individual's profile is consistent with dyslexia under current SASC diagnostic framework guidelines. Candidates are evaluated on an individual suitability basis.

  • Exclusions: This service does not assess workplace/adult employment adjustments, dyscalculia, ADHD, or autism. Furthermore, Mark Trewby does not complete or submit internal JCQ Form 8 documentation on behalf of schools (schools and colleges remain legally responsible for managing internal exam access arrangements).

2. Cancellations, Rescheduling, and Technical Requirements

Booking & Suitability Verification

All bookings begin with a direct email suitability check (mtrewby@hotmail.com). A booking is formally confirmed only when suitability has been verified, an assessment date agreed, and the £50 deposit received.

Deposit & Cancellation Policy

  • The £50 deposit is non-refundable once paid.

  • If a booking is cancelled by the client, the £50 deposit is retained, but no further balance will be due.

Rescheduling

  • One rescheduling request may be made without penalty provided at least 48 hours' notice is given in writing via email.

  • The rescheduled session should normally take place within 3 months of the original appointment.

  • Late cancellations (under 48 hours) or repeated rescheduling requests may result in the loss of the deposit and require a new booking.

Technical & Environmental Requirements

For a remote video assessment, the client is responsible for ensuring the candidate has:

  • A suitable laptop or desktop computer.

  • A working camera, microphone, and stable internet connection.

  • A quiet, private, and suitable room free from interruptions.

Where the candidate is a minor, a parent or guardian should be available nearby where appropriate, but must not assist, prompt, or participate in assessment tasks unless specifically asked to do so by the assessor. The client must not make unauthorised recordings or screenshots of the assessment.

Technical or Environmental Interruptions

If technical difficulties, internet interruptions, unsuitable surroundings, or other circumstances significantly affect the validity or reliability of the assessment, the assessor may pause, rearrange, or discontinue the session.

3. Pre-Assessment Information

  • Relevant background information and completed questionnaires must be returned via email prior to the assessment.

  • These should normally be returned at least 48 hours before the assessment session.

  • The information provided is used to understand the individual's background and learning history to inform profile synthesis.

4. Assessment, Report, and 15-Minute Feedback

Duration & Delivery

  • The assessment normally takes approximately 2.5 to 3.5 hours on a one-to-one basis with breaks where appropriate.

  • Following completion of the assessment, a detailed written report will normally be provided electronically within 7 working days, provided that all required questionnaires and the remaining £350 balance payment have been received.

15-Minute Report Feedback

  • Included in the £400 fee is a 15-minute remote feedback consultation via phone or video link following receipt of the written report to explain findings, clarify recommendations, and answer immediate questions.

Report Clarification & Factual Corrections

  • The assessment fee includes reasonable email clarification regarding the completed report for 30 days following its issue.

  • If a factual error (e.g., misspelt name) is identified, please notify mtrewby@hotmail.com within 30 days for correction. Changes to professional interpretation or diagnostic conclusions are not factual errors.

5. Parental Responsibility and Consent

  • The person booking an assessment for a minor must hold legal parental responsibility and provide consent.

  • Where separated parents hold joint responsibility, the person booking must ensure the other party is aware. If disagreement arises, the assessment will not proceed until resolved.

6. GDPR, Privacy and Data Retention

  • Mark Trewby (mtrewby@hotmail.com), trading as Dyslexia Tests Online, is the data controller for personal information handled in accordance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

  • Parts of remote assessments may be recorded for accurate scoring, checking assessment information, or report preparation. Recordings are securely stored and deleted when no longer required.

  • Completed diagnostic reports and essential records are retained securely for 7 years (or until a minor candidate's 25th birthday, whichever is longer).

7. Communication and Contact

The primary method of communication before and after an assessment is email:
